Daina Ashbee (Back)

Unrelated-photo4-Sarah-MarieDaina Ashbee is an artist, performer and choreographer based in Montreal, Quebec. Her work is often influenced by her Cree Metis and Dutch heritage and her experiences as a young woman, using both contemporary and traditional means as expression.Most notably, her work has been presented for The Global Alliance Against Female Genital Mutilation (Switzerland 2015), at La Chapelle: Scènes Contemporaines (Montréal 2015) and The MAI (Montréal 2014).
Daina has been awarded mentorships and residencies at Circuit-Est Centre Chorégraphique, The MAI (Montréal, Arts interculturels) and Studio 303 in Montréal for the project, Unrelated. Most recently Daina was invited to present her work in Geneva, Switzerland for a gathering hosted by The Alliance Against Female Genital Mutilation and Musée d’éthnographie de Genève (MEG). She was invited to be an ambassador for the 4th International World March of Women for the year 2015 in Québec, Canada.
